Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp might be backing Alberto Moreno in public, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t on the lookout for a new defender behind the scenes.
The left back has faced huge criticism from Reds fans after yet another abject performance at the weekend, with many calling for Klopp to dip into the market before it’s too late.
The Mirror report that Bruno Martins Indi is being explored as one option, because not only can he play on the left, he is also a capable centre-back, another essential given the injuries to Joel Matip and Mamadou Sakho.
Doubts over Sakho’s future are thought to have no substance, so it will be interesting to see how Klopp juggles all his defenders if and when they are all available.
Porto, meanwhile, may consider selling Martins Indi because the Holland international only has two years left on his contract.
The 24-year-old, a left-footed defender, signed for the Portuguese club from Feyenoord two years ago.
