Arsene Wenger might get a hard time from Arsenal fans, but it’s fair to say he does provoke them from time to time.

The Emirates faithful have not only grown frustrated with the Gunners’ relative lack of silverware in recent years, but also Wenger’s inactivity in the transfer market.

The Frenchman has admitted that the club has money to spend, but are finding it difficult to identify any players to bring in.

So far, they have made one decent signing in Granit Xhaka, while also buying less well-known players such as Takuma Asano and Rob Holding.

And Wenger has now effectively warned fans that they should be happy with the squad they already have.

When asked in the fan footage below about a marquee signing of Leicester star Riyad Mahrez, he responded: “We have plenty of players.”

That doesn’t sound promising, especially with the Foxes insisting the playmaker isn’t for sale.

Regardless, the Algerian can’t be Wenger’s priority. With just a few weeks left of the transfer window, Arsenal still need another striker, while their defensive crisis is growing graver by the day.

Gabriel was stretchered off in their most recent pre-season friendly with Manchester City, leaving Wenger in dire straits for the season opener against Liverpool next season.

Judging by his response to the Mahrez question, however, there’s no guarantee that he’ll do anything about it.
