Erik Lamela has rubbished rumours linking him a move away from Tottenham.
The Argentina international has been impressive since the arrival of compatriot Mauricio Pochettino at the club two years ago, having initially struggled in his debut season under Andre Villas-Boas.
Last season, he got 10 goals to help Spurs to a third-placed finish, but one of the main characteristics of his spell in North London is the persistent speculation suggesting it is coming to an end.
At first, the 24-year-old almost left because he had failed to live up to his club record £30million price tag, but this summer, the rumours relate more to the fact that he could be attracting interest from elsewhere.
“Ever since I came to Tottenham I have always heard that I am supposed to be leaving,” he told Sky Sports.
“I have never wanted to leave or thought about leaving.
“I enjoy playing for the club and get on well with all the players, the staff and supporters.”
Tottenham will need Lamela to be at his best if they are to break into what will be a hugely competitive Premier League top four once again.
If he can continue his form from last season, Spurs fans will be in for a treat, and he will be one to watch out for particularly in the Champions League as he continues to defy the doubters.
