Widespread reports suggest Riyad Mahrez wants to join Arsenal, but Leicester are clearly intent on letting their fans down lightly.
Foxes supporters are desperately hoping that the Algerian playmaker is still with them when the transfer window slams shut at the end of August, but that’s looking increasingly unlikely.
While the club haven’t officially commented on the speculation that their star man is set to leave, they have all but confirmed it by tweeting a picture – a picture of their entire team – with Mahrez conspicuously absent.

Pre-season is often the time when the internet’s most dedicated search team photoshoots, calendars, and team sheets for anyone who might be missing, but Mahrez was a pretty obvious one.
What’s most infuriating for Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is thatArsenal don’t even particularly need Mahrez, as they already have Mesut Ozil doing largely the same thing.
Instead, Arsene Wenger should be searching for a striker, but we all know how stubborn he has proved in that area over the years.
That means he may be focus on making Mahrez his prime target, and as he will want him in before the season starts, this is a deal that could gather pace quickly over the coming days.
