Paul Pogba’s agent has a warning for United

Paul Pogba’s club future remains in limbo after his agent suggested the Frenchman could stay at Juventus after all.

Mino Raiola has told Sky Sports Italia that the player is “very happy” at Juventus, with the Serie A champions set to offer the 23-year-old a new deal.

Manchester United were thought to be in pole position to sign the £100millon-rated man after Real Madrid baulked at that asking price, but it now appears Pogba is no certainty to leave.

“Juve don’t want to get rid of Pogba – they want him to stay for a long time and they want to renew his contract”, said Raiola.

The super-agent also revealed that Chelsea made an offer for Pogba last summer, but he had no desire to leave Turin.

Juventus could have to cough up some serious money, however, if they are to keep the star, as United are reportedly willing to offer wages of £300,000 a week, making him one of the highest earners in world football and certainly in the Premier League.

Raiola’s words will put United back in their place. It’s surprising to hear the Dutchman taking such a firm line with the Red Devils, as it was thought he had a special relationship with the club, having already brought two of his clients, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in this transfer window.

That’s obviously not the case, so United will have to fight a little harder if they are to convince Pogba to up sticks and swap the Old Lady for Old Trafford.
