Man City close to signing Colombia striker

Manchester City are close to completing the signing of Marlos Moreno, according to Goal.com.

The 19-year-old is set to move to the north-west from current club Atletico Nacional, where he has become one of the most highly-rated young prospects in South American football.

Moreno also impressed for Colombia in the recent Copa America, playing alongside Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, though it is understood City’s interest in the player predates that tournament.

Pep Guardiola’s squad is already saturated with forwards, having already signed Nolito as an attacker, with another deal for Leroy Sane seemingly imminent.

With Sergio Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho expected to be the first-choice strikers next season, it’s not expected that Moreno will be in Guardiola’s immediate plans, but he is certainly one for the future.

As the European market is becoming increasingly inflated, it’s likely that more and more Premier League club will start looking to the South American leagues to scout their players.

City are certainly making a shrewd move by bringing in Moreno, as while he is relatively unknown, he has proven for Atletico Nacional that he has the potential to be a hit in England.
