Toni Kroos has failed to quell speculation linking him with a £60million move to Manchester City.
The Real Madrid midfielder is clearly well aware that his future is uncertain, but speaking to Bild, a well-established newspaper in his native Germany, Kroos said:
“You should never rule anything out in football.”
However, he did confirm he has no interest in playing in the Bundesliga again, also adding that he enjoys “a great deal of respect from Real.”
Any potential move could hinge on whether Madrid sign Paul Pogba, as they may be forced to cash in on Kroos to free up the funds for the French Juventus superstar.
City will therefore be hoping, for many reasons, that Pogba turns down rivals Manchester United, the other main club interested in him, and opts for the Santiago Bernabeu.
If Kroos were to come to England, City would be a likely destination as he spent a year playing under new Sky Blues boss Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.
First, though, he has the small matter of a Euro 2016 semi-final against France to deal with, a game which will pit Kroos against Pogba in midfield, so it will certainly make interesting viewing for Real fans.
