Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva could be on his way out of Anfield after nine years at the club.
According to Turkish publication Fanatik, Besiktas are interested in the Brazilian and he is open to a move away.
The 29-year-old’s agent has been speaking to Besiktas, with the talks so far being described as positive.
Since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival on Merseyside, Lucas has found it hard to maintain a spot in the first team, and while Joe Allen is likely to leave this summer, that’s still unlikely to open up a spot for him.
Klopp is expected to bring in more reinforcements over the course of the transfer window, so it does appear that Lucas’ time in the Premier League is coming to a natural end.
Liverpool fans need not worry about not having enough strength in depth as new signing Marko Grujic may well take his place, while Jordan Henderson has hopefully been able to finally put his injury problems behind him.
Indeed, James Milner and Emre Can are also options in the centre of the midfield, so it’s no wonder that when Besiktas have come calling, Lucas is more than happy to answer.
