Arsenal could splash out on two strikers

As the transfer window starts to gather pace, Arsene Wenger could be gearing up to bring in not one, but two strikers to the Emirates.

The Sun are reporting that Arsenal are eyeing both Romelu Lukaku and Alexandre Lacazette, with Wenger believing the pair can finally lead the Gunners to another Premier League trophy.

What many fans will be most sceptical about, however, is exactly where the money is coming from.

Wenger’s refusal to sign big name players because of financial constraints has been par for the course, but it looks like he has suddenly changed his tune.

And if Arsenal are to sign the pair, they will be having to seriously splash out.

Everton want £65million for wantaway Lukaku, though they may have to relent on that demand if a deal isn’t done by the start of the new season.

Even Chelsea are being put off by the Belgian’s price tag, so it truly would be a shock if Arsenal were to buy him instead.

Lacazette is closer to the £38million mark, having impressed for Lyon in Ligue 1.

One keen observer of the transfer situation in north London will be Olivier Giroud, as the Frenchman’s future would be cast into doubt if Wenger signed both frontmen.

Giroud has finally been able to prove his doubters wrong at Euro 2016, and is even one of the contenders for the Golden Boot.

But after another hit-and-miss season for Arsenal, it could be too little, too late to impress Wenger.
