Paris Saint-Germain’s wantaway defender Marquinhos has a lot to think about over the summer.
The only thing that is virtually certain is that the Brazilian is on his way out of the French capital, but he has plenty of destinations to choose from, including three English clubs.
According to The Sun, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea are all interested, though that’s hardly surprising when all of them are in dire need of a new centre-back.
Chelsea need a replacement for John Terry, who will be playing a reduced role in the first team next season.
Manchester United are expected to offload Daley Blind and it looks like there may be no way back for Phil Jones under Jose Mourinho.
And Manchester City leaked goals last season because captain Vincent Kompany’s injuries are preventing him from playing regularly.
Marquinhos should ease his way into any of those sides and has simply been unfortunate that at PSG, he has found himself below David Luiz and Thiago Silva in the pecking order.
It is believed the 22-year-old actually wants to move to Barcelona, but now that the club have confirmed that Javier Mascherano will be staying, there is less need for a new defender as the Argentinian often provides cover in that position.
Marquinhos will cost almost £40 million, but as Premier League clubs can look forward to an increased income from TV rights next season, any of the aforementioned three could quite easily meet that price if they’re serious about challenging for the title again.
