Chelsea have cancelled the farewell party for Captain John Terry, as reports now suggests he could be given a one-year extension on deal.
The defender’s current deal with the Blues expires this summer and there has been no indication of the club awarding him a new deal.
Terry will miss the club’s last game of the season against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge following his red card against Sunderland last Sunday.
Chelsea will hold an end of season gala on Friday night, with reports saying a number of tributes will be devoted to the leader of the playing body.
A section of the stadium was going to be devoted to Terry with caption: “Captain, Leader, Legend” but that decision has been scrapped by the club, in a bid to award him a final season after his 18-year stay at the club.
