City talisman believes Real must be stopped

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has made a rallying call on his fellow players and supporters to make their Champions League semi final clash against Real Madrid a memorable one.

The Belgium international can be relied on to whet the appetite of teammates ahead of crucial games as this and has duly lived up to expectations.

City face Real in a crucial encounter that could see the English giants make the competition’s final for the first time in their history and Kompany feels the onus lies on the club’s supporters and players to manage a famous win against the Los Blancos.

“We play against one of the greatest clubs of all time and our support will be able to make the difference. If they turn up, I have never seen a Man City team not turn up when the fans are up for it. They have to be as loud as they have ever been, otherwise what’s the point in buying a ticket to be here? We need them.

“We cannot fail to reach our best level. That is the only pressure we have. If we play to the level we can, I am sure everyone will see a very competitive game and we will have a chance. That is the only thing we are worried about – can we play at our level?

“You ask me about Kevin [De Bruyne] and I hope he plays the best game of his career but we will need it from the whole team. I think what everyone wishes within the club is that we are just able to show how good we are.”
