Di Maria: Ibrahimovic to take Man United and Premier League by storm

Di Maria: Unhappy

Disaster

ANGEL DI MARIA may have flopped in the Premier League but he is backing Paris St Germain team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic to be a big hit if he chooses to make England the final destination of his glittering career.

Ibrahimovic will leave the French club at the end of his contract this summer and has been linked with a move to Manchester United should Jose Mourinho – who was the Swedish star’s manager at Inter Milan – take over from Louis van Gaal.

Di Maria said: ”Players with his skills can succeed in any league in the world.

“He has played in the Dutch, Spanish and Italian leagues and now here in France and shown what he is capable of and won the title in every country. He can play anywhere because of his quality and who he is.

“I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to play alongside the very best. Some of them I used to watch on television or in video games. Zlatan is one of them.”

Di Maria is right when he says footballers with the skill Ibrahimovic possesses can succeed in any country. But, as Di Maria himself can testify, you have to be played in your best position in order to do so – something the Argentinian clearly wasn’t during his miserable season at Manchester United.

Not that the supremely confident Ibra himself is likely to have any self-doubts.

Here’s a selection of some of Ibrahimovic’s more ‘interesting’ quotes over the years.

“One thing for sure, a World Cup without me is nothing to watch”

“I can’t help but laugh at how perfect I am”

‘An injured Zlatan is a pretty serious thing for any team’

‘You can’t coach brilliance like that’ – after he’d scored another stunning goal
