Will £20million be enough for Man United to snare striker?

MANCHESTER UNITED have emerged as the favourites to win the battle for £20million-rated Watford striker Odion Ighalo.

Sunday People Sport claim the Red Devils are keen to secure the services of the Nigeria international regardless of who is in charge at Old Trafford next season.

However, United may face opposition from Arsenal who are themselves desperately in need of extra firepower, while there has also been interest from Spain and Italy.

But if the comments of Ighalo himself are anything to go by, United certainly appear to have the upper hand.

Speaking before the January transfer window, Ighalo said: “I don’t think I will be moving but I’m not sure I’d say no if United called.

“They were my team growing up. I loved watching Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke on TV. They were my idols and playing at Old Trafford has always been a dream.”

Ighao has impressed in his first season in the Premier League scoring 15 goals and, although he hasn’t been quite as prolific in recent weeks, his pace, skill and eye for goal would make him an asset to any side.

But with an expected summer spending spree in the vicinity of £250m, would United be better served going for a more tried and tested striker, someone who has proved himself at the highest level over several seasons?

United fans, would you like to see Ighalo at Old Trafford next season?

Trust Man United to shoot themselves in the foot yesterday.

Sure, a trip to the Hawthorns is never an easy one but with Champions League qualification at stake the Red Devils really did have to do better.

Next up they’ve got Man City on March 21 followed by a home game to Everton.

It never gets any easier for Manchester United.
