It’s all going off at Chelsea.
Alex Pato was plastered across most sports pages yesterday doing his silly hand signal as he arrived in London to complete a move to Chelsea. He said:
“I’m so happy. I stay here for my dream. Chelsea is my new home. Thanks to Chelsea for support. Thanks to my fans for support on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
“I need to play. I don’t know what to say because I’m so happy. I’m very anxious [to play] and I want to know my new friends and players in the team. I really want to play in Chelsea.”
And then there is the news that Chelsea are set to sign a very decent looking defender from MLS. The Mirror stares with great assertiveness:
New York Red Bulls young centre-half Matt Miazga is set to join Chelsea in a deal worth around £3.5million including add-ons.
The 23-year-old made his international debut the US men’s team this year and looks like an excellent prospect. With Zouma, Terry and Ivanovic already in the ranks, could this yet mean a January move for Gary Cahill? It still seems unlikely.
In other news, Chelsea’s long-term managerial situation is the subject of intense conjecture.
Our favourite rag, The Guardian, says that Chelsea have turned their attention to Stoke boss Mark Hughes.
Mark Hughes in Chelsea’s sights after Stoke transformation
He played for Chelsea at the end of his career of course and would make an interesting choice.
But The Independent reckons that the brilliant Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino could be the man to take the reins.

Finally, for now at least, Jamie Vard is still on the Stamford Bridge radar according to The Mirror, who say that a swap deal involving Loic Remy could be afoot. We wouldn’t be at all surprised if Chelsea attempted to add more pace to their front line this month.
Meanwhile let’s give you a taster of the 6ft 4in Matt Miazga who seems set to join the club before the end of January.
