Manchester United cold be on the verge of their first January signing. An what a signing.

The Daily Mail reports that the club held talks on Friday in an attempt to conclude a deal for a sublime young talent.

Manchester United have moved closer to signing midfield sensation Renato Sanches after further talks in London on Friday.

The report states that the player has a £60m release clause in his contract but that Manchester United want to pay about half of that figure.

It would be a fantastic signing for United, who are clearly now looking at long-term signings for the club.

Anthony Martial, Memphis Depay and Luke Shaw have joined the young talents of Andreas Pereira and Adnan Januzaj in recent windows as the future begins to look very bright.

Sanches has been on the radar for some months after a breakthrough season at Benfica where he scored an absolute belter on his debut.

He has 11 appearances and 2 goals under this belt now. He’s a player who loves to dribble and carry the ball menacingly and at pace directly at the heart of the opponent, as Anthony Martial does so well.

He’s a pacy and powerful player who may well end up playing as a winger.

The report states that Manchester United have scouted the player in 3 of his last 4 appearances and that they were initially interested in his team mates Gancalo Cuedes and Elisue but soon realised that the real prize was Sanches.

Memphis will be a champion yet! He’s getting his confidence drained by LvG just like Di Maria did. When Ronaldo was frustrating everyone at Old Trafford what did Sir Fergie do? He played him through it to iron out the kinks. The same should be happening with Depay but he’s being mismanaged. He’s in a different league to Lingard anyway.

I agree Memphis is a player who will suddenly become the player we know he can become, we just have to give him the time to adjust.

That’s if he listens to correction. I believe what RVP said to him in Holland is true. This youngster thinks he’s the one but he’s far from it, truth be told. I guess that’s wht LVG saw that we believe is mismanagement “I might be wrong”The question is when will he come out of WORST To BAD??. Not looking for FAIR at all. Just bad

To me, depay might be too pompous but he has a world class future ahead. He is just being mismanaged by a man who think himself as God, arrogant, too gud to listen to advice n ostentatious.

Bringing in new players now is just a complete waste of time and money as they will only be corrupted by the absolute mind blowingly inane system LVG is trying and not succeeding to implement at our once great club. He has spend 250 million pounds on some great players that over night have turned into league one players who quite frankly have no idea of what they should be doing, and as a consequence cannot perform at the level they were at, at their previous clubs. Just because someone is scoring 20 goals in 25 games at another club does not translate to 20 goals at our club. They are scoring 20 goals at that club because they are working within a system that suits them, hence the performances. Bring them here and they will perform like all the other big names on our books. Just look at Angel de Maria, now carving them up at PSG. It’s not the players, it’s the style or system or lack there of…. Mark Hughes would do a better job than LVG!!!!! The squad that we have is more than adequate if allowed to play the right way, the Manchester United way….. Come on Glazers…..It’s time!!!!! (I’m a fifty year veteran supporter) I followed the lads through Busby, McGuinness, O’Farrell, The Doc, Sexton, Big Ron, Sir Alex, Moyes & Giggs and have never experienced anything like this. I just cannot find the words to describe this anymore.
