Many of us suspect that Manchester United will add an offensive player in this window but The Manchester Evening News has passed on reports of a rather left field suggestion today as PSG hitman Ezequiel Lavezzi has been linked. They say:
It is thought United are looking to find an agreement that suits all parties in the coming days, with a fee of £6.1 million thought to be enough to land the Argentine.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph writes:
Manchester United are in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to reports in France.
He may not be at the top of the wishlist for many Manchester United fans, who want to see some speedy players coming through the door this winter.
And we have to admit that this may turn out to be something of a strange move. But, in the best case, Lavezzi could have the sort of impact that Teddy Sheringham had in his glorious time at the club.
Because, what Lavezzi may lack in raw ground speed he more than makes up for with his acute footballing brain and his wonderful technique.
This is a player who always seems to have time on the ball and rarely wastes possession.
The Argentine international has never been a prolific goalscorer – he has 125 goals in his 482 top-level club games for PSG, Napoli, San Lorenzo and Estudiantes and 7 in 48 for his country – but he makes things happen for those around him and, as such, he could be a wonderful catalyst for a sluggish Manchester United attack.
Let’s take a gander at some of his better moments for club and country
