Biggest January deal on the cards?

There is obviously a huge amount of nonsense doing the rounds in the transfer window.

But here is a solid piece of information which is bound to interest Manchester United, as well as some of the other biggest clubs in the world.

PSG coach Laurent Blanc has lifted the lid on problems that he is encountering with his striker Edinson Cavani.

Despite scoring 13 goals in 24 this season and 4 in his last 6, the 28-year-old hasn’t been used every week as the veteran Zlatan has been regularly preferred as a starter.

And Blanc is quoted in The Daily Mail as saying:

‘There is a problem with Cavani’s behaviour but my job is to think of the entire squad as a collective,’ said Blanc.

‘We did hold a staff meeting and among the various issues we discussed were Cavani and his complaints.

‘The desires of the individual can’t affect the rest of the team.

‘I believe that he can score here but I understand if he wants to consider other career opportunities.’

This will surely alert Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal who should see this one as a no-brainer. It’s notoriously difficult to sign top strikers in the winter window and Cavani is most certainly one of those.

At 28 he has played 72 times for Uruguay and scored 28 goals. And his club career has been really special. 13 goals in 30 games for Danubio, 37 in 117 for Palermo, 104 in 138 for Napoli and 69 in 120 for PSG despite constant rumours of unrest.

He’s a master marksman and a team with him up top, Rooney in the hole, Memphis and Martial either side would surely do serious damage in the second half of the season.

Let’s see some of Cavani’s goals.
