Chelsea are rumoured to have made a £40m bid for the World Cup winning Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos.
The Daily Star passes on reports from Spain that:
Chelsea open talks with £40m Manchester United and Liverpool target
CHELSEA have offered £40m for Toni Kroos, according to reports.
The fall from grace of Nemanja Matic at Chelsea has been startling.
Only a year ago he was widely viewed as a main cog in the Chelsea machine. He marshalled the defence so well that Chelsea didn’t need another defensive midfielder. He even chipped in with the odd howitzer of a goal.
But Jose Mourinho seemed to lose some faith in the player toward the end of his tenure and Guus Hiddink benched the 27-year-old Serbian for the 2-2 draw with West Brom on Wednesday evening.
Well known to lovers of football, Kroos is a World Cup winner with Germany and was also seen as a vital part of that triumphant side. He scored against Brazil in the famous semi-final demolition and has the technical majesty to go with the grit and defensive capabilities.
At the age of 26 he still has his best years ahead of him and this would surely be viewed as a top-tier signing for Chelsea.
But whether Real Madrid would allow such a player to leave mid-season is highly debatable.
Let’s see his best moments.
