Respected source: Chelsea head the queue for forward regarded as the best young player in his league

A striker signing has been strongly mooted at Chelsea in January and the West London giants have today been linked with a move for a highly-rated youngster.

The Independent writes:

Chelsea and Manchester City to move for Charlton Athletic striker in bidding war

That man is Ademola Lookman, a 18 year old from Wandsworth who has been causing a stir this season with 3 goals and some great performances in his 9 games for Charlton – and just 7 starts.

The report states that, while other big clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham are keen, ‘City and Chelsea head the queue’ for the services of the promising teenager. They also state that the player is ‘widely thought to the best young prospect in the Championship.’

The 18 year old, who likes to play on the left wing or in the hole at number 10, came from Waterloo FC, a London youth team and his prolific strike rate in the Charlton U18s and U21s fast-tracked him to the first team, where he hasn’t looked at all out of place.

It isn’t always easy to find footage of one so coltish but we managed to find a clip of this young man. He looks quick and has good feet and an explosive shot on him. Add that to the fearlessness of youth and perhaps he might even get a game in the first team for Chelsea before too long.

Let’s have a look at him in action.
