Big Lad

Newcastle fans may be disheartened to learn that the search for extra goals has reportedly been focused on ex-Arsenal man Niklas Bendtner.

German media outlet Bild reports (via BBC):

Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, 27, could be on his way from Wolfsburg to Newcastle United.

The eccentric journeyman looked as if he had many of the qualities required to be a hit in England as a number 9 but he didn’t develop as expected over the seven seasons that he played in North London and questions remain over the speed of his footwork.

He scored a decent 47 goals in 171 appearances for the Gunners, before moving to Birmingham City on loan in 2006/7 (48 games and 13 goals).

Loan moves to Sunderland and Juventus followed before his permanent sale to Wolfsburg in 2014 where he has played 44 times and scored on 9 occasions.

He is certainly a handful and Newcastle could use some more physical presence up top but we just can’t see the 27 year old having the requisite impact or making a crucial difference in the trajectory of their season.

Let’s take a look at some of his better moments.

Newcastle fans: worth a nibble or is Steve McClaren apparently barking up the wrong tree?

It appears that there are some media sources[ like your good selves] that really dont understand the set up at Newcastle…our coach Steve McLaren has no say or influence over the players signed by Newcastle. So your heading ‘really Steve?’ has no accuracy in relation to the reality at Newcastle. In the eyes of the higher powers at Newcastle Steve is ‘just a coach’ who has to work with whoever the club buys for him….HENCE THE MESS THE CLUB IS IN NOW!
