Must Win

Manchester United named an 18 man squad to face Sheffield United for the 17:30 (GMT) kick off at Old Trafford in The FA Cup 3rd round on Saturday.

While there were one or two surprises, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal seems to be taking few chances with his selection, with so much pressure on him right now.

Manchester United squad

De Gea, Romero, Varela, McNair, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Herrera, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Mata, Pereira, Lingard, Memphis, Rooney, Martial, Keane

De Gea – The Cat must start whenever fit.

Romero – Sorry mate

Varela – Has really impressed us with the few appearances he has made. He’s strong in the tackle, really quick and adventurous. We think he might have a future at Manchester United.

McNair – Another player that we like. Should start against the third tier side, to get more experience.

Darmian – Has had an up and down season but is back in the team right now and playing proficiently.

Smalling – Easily Mike’s best season. Will never be as good as Rio or Nemanja but we like his pace.

Blind – Has had a bit of a stinker of late but his passing regularly redeems him.

Borthwick-Jackson – Jury out. Was skinned for pace way too often in The Champions League game against Wolfsburg. Still, it was stupid to bring him on in such a game.

Herrera – One good game followed by a poor one.

Schweinsteiger – World Class – last decade.

Fellaini – Could be off.

Mata – Too nice.

Pereira – Get him in there Louis.

Lingard – Not for me.

Memphis – The only way he can mate is with game time. Benching him solves nothing.

Martial: Deadly

Martial: Deadly

Rooney – Signs of a recovery?

Martial – The Saviour – worth the ticket price alone.

Keane – Big chance. Last chance?
