Another brilliant Frenchman linked to mid-season Manchester United move

Regular readers of soccersweep will know that we had very much hoped that Jose Mourinho would join Manchester United as soon as possible in what would have been a compelling match up.

We genuinely think that Jose would break his usual managerial cycle and stay to rebuild the empire at the club long-term, if only to annoy his ex-employers.

But perhaps the chances of him coming to Manchester United are now receding after Louis has ridden the latest storm.

But French publication, Le 10 Sport, has suggested that one of their countrymen could take the reins mid-season or come the summer. They run an ‘exclusive’which states:

Manchester United inquired about Laurent Blanc…

In search of a great coach to take over from Louis Van Gaal, either during the season or at the end of the championship the MU board has considered the case of Laurent Blanc

The 50 year old did of course play for Manchester United over the course of 2 seasons in the wake of Jaap Stam’s departure from the club at the turn of the century. He made 75 appearances and scored 4 goals between 2001-3 in the twilight of his career.

Blanc is an intelligent man who has used the PSG resources well and put together a team which we feel can win The Champions League this season.

Whether he feels like he is ready to leave that project to join the drama of Manchester United is debatable but he certainly has good credentials and has proven that he knows how to manage high profile players.

Blanc’s current PSG contract expires in the summer.
