Tottenham

Master marksmen now more likely to sign for Tottenham in January than to stay at his club according to bookmaker – but do Spurs actually want him?

Berahino far better than some might think

Pace

We are expecting MoPo to make a couple more masterful young signings in the winter window.

Based on the quality of the team, Tottenham already have a genuine chance to be in the top four come May. A couple more acquisitions could just get them over the line, particularly with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all having demonstrated patchy form for much of the season hitherto.

And Sky Sports has reported this afternoon that SkyBet now has Said Berahino down as more likely to join Tottenham this month than to stay at West Brom.

But The London Evening Standard reports that Tottenham are concerned about that perceived temperament and whether he will unsettle a great group at Spurs. They say:

Spurs worried Saido Berahino would disrupt squad spirit

His antics at West Brom are obviously a concern. We don’t know what he was promised or what went on behind the scenes during a torrid summer when he wanted out of the club.

But, regardless, it’s just bad form to create such a scene when you are playing for a Premier League club.

But, for our money, he’s well worth the risk for Tottenham. Berahino has surprised us with how good a finisher he is. Add that wonderful pace and athleticism and he has the potential to be one of the very best forwards in the league.

We think that Tottenham should do the deal and get rid in the summer if he causes trouble. There would surely still be no shortage of suitors for a big talent like this if things went south at Tottenham.

Spurs fans: worth the gamble?

He is a decent player but worth no more than £15m and not the £20-£22m that WBA wanted in the summer. He has PL experience and could work well with Kane or as a lone striker but he is far from the finished article.
