Manchester United crashed out of The Champions League on Tuesday against a decent side but not an elite one. Wolfsburg were there for the taking in the first half but Manchester United simply didn’t have the quality or style to put them to the sword.
The pressure has been mounting on the boss for months and some feel that Tuesday was a tipping point.
Schweinsteiger
Was awful. Yet another game just passed him by and it’s painfully obvious that he is years past his best already. He’s currently battling it out with Radamel Falcao for the title of Louis’s worst signing.
Dead Wood
Observers are very quick to criticise Memphis on the left. But Jesse Lingard has done absolutely nothing for weeks, yet he continues to fly under the abuse radar. His job is to create and score goals – he does neither.
Marouane Fellaini
As clumsy as ever and a player who drags the team down to his, scrappy, level. How he got in ahead of Carrick is a total mystery to us.
Juan Mata
He played a lovely through ball for the goal, in what many feel is by far and away his best position at number 10.
But, as with his entire Manchester United career, he has been sporadically decent but failed to steal the show or run a game.
Your number 10 is regularly your most important player and Mata failed to provide the ammo for the brilliant Anthony Martial when his team most needed him.
Great players have been replaced by good ones at best. If Manchester United want to dominate again they need better starters than this.
