While the tactics haven’t always been to the liking of Manchester United fans and the wider public, it’s difficult to argue with the idea that Louis van Gaal has done well in the market.

He has got rid of a load of dead wood and brought in real class for now and the future of the club.

But he has been unlucky on the left side where he doesn’t seem to be able to keep a full complement fit for any length of time.

Now Luke Shaw is crocked an LvG says that Manchester United may have to invest again in that area.

“Maybe we have to buy a left-back in January.” he said after the Watford game on Saturday.

We think that with Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo, Manchester United are pretty well served at left back, even without Shaw.

But Manchester United have been linked again on Sunday with a really pacy left sided player. The Mirror reports:

But Van Gaal admitted he will look for a new left-back in the New Year — Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez is the latest player to be scouted.

The 23 year old Swiss international of some 33 caps has been widely praised for his dynamic displays over the last few years.

He has been playing for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg since he moved from Zurich in 2012. There he has played 112 times and score a remarkable 17 goals.

He’d be a wonderful addition to the squad and, like the best modern full backs, he has the technique to play further forward if required.

Let’s take a look at him in action.
