Manchester United fans will hope that the club can snare a couple more A-listers in the January transfer window despite the obvious difficulties of such mid-season captures.
For now they will have to settle for the news that the potential team of tomorrow is being nicely bolstered.
Because the club has confirmed that it has recently signed a young midfield talent after a successful trial at the club.
ManUtd.com says:
DJ Buffonge, or to give him his full name Darren Raekwon McIntosh-Buffonge, has signed as a scholar for Manchester United following a successful trial.
He came from Fulham and started the season in the U18 team at Manchester United. His creative skills shone through immediately as he set up a goal in the opening fixture of the season.
A groin injury soon stymied his immediate progress but the player showed enough to convince Manchester United coaches that he was worth a more permanent deal.
At 17 the ex-Arsenal academy man won’t be expected to get minutes in the first team for some time.
But he is already physically strong for his age and has lovely control of the football.
He’s certainly one to watch and Manchester United fans may see him play some Capital One Cup football over the next season or so.
