Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has to be applauded for his transfer business since he joined the club.

He has got rid of a whole lot of dead wood, streamlined the squad and brought in some superb youngsters who have dramatically reduced the age of the squad.

One of his best signings so far has to be that of Toby Alderweireld. But Tottenham are being linked today with another defender.

The Daily Star says:

Tottenham Hotspur chase international star to offer defensive cover

TOTTENHAM are weighing up a £7m move for Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida.

Unknown

The 26 year old Dynamo Kiev defender, who stands at 6ft and change, is something of a nomad.

He has played in Germany before moving to Zagreb and then on to Kiev, for whom he signed in 2013.

The Croation has played 77 games and scored 5 goals for the Kiev over the course of two and a bit seasons and has definitely been considered a success at his current club.

We can’t see him breaking up the brilliant Vertonghen/Alderweireld partnership but Tottenham don’t have a lot of cover there.

Furthermore Vida has regularly played as full back on both flanks in his career.

Let’s take a look at him in action.

Tottenham fans: does he boil your potatoes?

@Johnny (come lately??) I think you’ll find Levy and Pochettino know all about Yarmolenko already. There are often contract difficulties with players from the Ukraine who want big sign-on fees and other things, even if the transfer fee is reasonable. There are other less complex deals to be done in Jan or the end of the season.

Fazio, Wimmer and Dier in the first team with Carter – vickers and Veljkovic in the reserves plus a couple out on loan, so not that short on cover. Could only see another defender coming in if fazio leaves and even then a new guy might hinder the progression of Carter – Vickers who will be our next Ledley!
