With Aston Villa in yet another state of flux Southampton, along with many onlookers, may well see this as a comfortable home win tonight.
But with Aston Villa desperately in need of a boost, perhaps we shall see a decent performance tonight from the club that recently sacked their manager Tim Sherwood.
Southampton are motoring along nicely after a slow start to the season and now find themselves in comfortable 8th place in the division.
This may mean that they can afford a real good go at The Capital One cup in a serious attempt at silverware under the excellent management of Ronald Koeman.
As for Aston Villa they are once more left to pick up the pieces after another managerial sacking.
We were never huge fans of Tim Sherwood and feel that he may now find his natural level in lower league football.
Whoever comes in is going to have a huge job on their hands to stabilise this constantly chaotic club.
