‘Nice for Me’: Top Target talks about potential Manchester United transfer

Manchester United have been linked with a big money move for Thomas Muller almost since Louis van Gaal walked through the door at Old Trafford.

The two clearly have a good understanding and Muller has yet again been asked about Manchester United’s interest in an interview with The Daily Mail.

Speaking about Van Gaal’s famous protocol of making all the players eat at the same time he says:

‘You could say that was a bit excessive but everything he does has a reason. He doesn’t just do something for the sake of it. He has his logic. He wants his players to be together at the table and communicate with each other.’

And of Karl Heinz Rummenigge’s recent public statement that Manchester United should stop emailing the club about the potential availability of the player:

‘I heard what Rummenigge said and it’s nice for me to hear it,’ said Muller. ‘There are never any guarantees in football but I do have a four-year contract and when I go on the pitch and hear fans shout my name, that’s something special.’

Muller: Not for all tastes

Muller: Not for all tastes

But he did remain tight lipped about the potential of a move to Manchester United, probably out of respect for his current employers:

‘The club, as Rummenigge showed, denied it straight away, so it’s not up for discussion,’

And, in repsonse to his own recent statement about being tempted by the money on offer in England, he elaborated:

‘I was asked a question about money. So I just said we’re professionals and for us it’s about earning money and living our lives. The fans always have the idea about the romantic side and your love for the club.

‘On the other hand, football is a business and things happen very quickly. One day a director says this coach is staying, then he’s sacked three weeks later. You can’t forget it is a business and not just playing football for a hobby. That was what I was trying to say.’

It does seem that the World Cup winner is settled right now and we think that, unless Louis van Gaal sings a new contract at Manchester Untied that it’s unlikely the German will move to Old Trafford.

But if Louis decides to stay on beyond the end of next season then we may ultimately see Muller in the red of Manchester United after all.

Let’s take a look at him during some of his better moments.

Manchester United fans: would he noticeably improve the first XI?
