They weren’t exactly at their fluent best against Aston Villa but Chelsea got the job done and are back on the right track.
The notable absentees from the victory were Nemanja Matic and Eden Hazard.
Both will surely start for this tricky trip to Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday evening.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek took Matic’s midfield berth at the weekend – for the first half at least – but Jose Mourinho will surely go with experience for a game where a draw would do but a win would buoy this recovering Chelsea team further.
With no further injuries to report yet, Branislav Ivanovic and Thibaut Courtois are the only absentees and we think that Willian, Fabregas and Hazard will play behind Costa, with Ramires anchoring Chelsea’s defence alongside Matic.
The defence is looking more solid at last and the back 4 of Baba, Terry, Zouma and Cesar may well prove to be Chelsea’s strongest defence as the season progresses.
So here is our best XI for a tough and probably draining game in a packed fixture list.
