Chelsea make 8 figure Bid – report

Most of The Premier League got Kaned at some stage last season

Big move

Chelsea are well known for splurging big money on top players since Roman Abramovich came in to the club a decade ago.

But their latest offering is for a stadium rather than a player.

Chelsea have finally got the go ahead to redevelop their Stamford Bridge home extensively and they are apparently ready to put Tottenham’s noses out of joint by offering more than the North London club to use Wembley as a temporary home from 2017. The Telegraph states:

Chelsea make four-year bid to land Wembley

While the ‘per season’ bids of Spurs and Chelsea for Wembley are thought to be at a similar level around the £15million mark, the Blues’ overall offer is potentially worth £60m to Wembley over the course of four years.

Spurs are also looking to redevelop at the same time and Wembley is the obvious choice for both clubs, due to the facilities and overall capacity. But Chelsea’s offer would appear more attractive to a Wembley organisation which is still paying off the money needed to fund the stadium. While Tottenham only need the stadium for a solitary campaign, Chelsea would need it longer-term.

And, as has become customary in The Premier League, Chelsea appear ready to blow their competitors out of the water with their financial muscle.

The report states that Chelsea will not countenance a ground share with Tottenham, who begin their own £400m redevelopment in 2017.

Chelsea fans: would Wembley be a decent temporary home?
