‘In January, the window is open’: 5 top potential Louis van Gaal winter signings as Manchester United could spend again

Big Money?

When asked about his summer transfer business, Louis van Gaal said he refused to panic buy and that recruitment was an ongoing process:

“We have to keep on and, in January, the window is open. It is a process and I cannot change the process. It is not only dependent on the player but the club. It is a lot of things that you cannot force.”

As we know, the Manchester United manager can be ruthless and won’t put up with substandard performances. We have seen, with the hooking of Memphis at half time twice in recent weeks, that he isn’t scared to let players know if they aren’t performing to his required standards.

He would have been disgusted by proceedings at The Emirates. Anyone can lose to Arsenal but the meek manner of defeat, where Manchester United never even mounted anything like a comeback, would have left him considering further additions. We look at potential buys:

Marco Reus

Juan Mata is a good player but he isn’t a particularly effective right winger and Manchester United still need a top one if they want the requisite balance and speed to be a top side.

Reus can play anywhere behind the front man, is absolute mustard and has been linked.

Shkodran Mustafi

The 23 year old German international centre back has been linked to Manchester United of late and we could definitely see Louis being interested.

Alexander Lacazette

A player who has been sending waves of excitement around Europe after topping the goal scoring charts for Lyon in Ligue 1 last season, ahead of the likes of Cavani and Zlatan. Was linked to Manchester United in the summer and they will surely add another centre forward before too long.

Thomas Muller

Manchester United have been persistent with this one but it still looks a remote prospect.

Aymeric Laporte

A beast of a centre back and still only 21. We think that he would be the perfect central defender for Manchester United – the heir to Rio’s throne.

Let’s see Lacazette in action.

Man U should buy Southampton Mane in January, then a center back to add to the ones we have.
Our greatest undoing against Arsenal was using Young as a left full back and pairing Carrick and Schweinsteiger in the middle of the pack.
