31 International Caps: Chelsea to make a major January bid for Balletic Bulldozer as they look to strengthen the spine of the team – report

You just knew that Jose would turn things around before too long.

After a month to forget for The Special One he has masterminded two wins in a week and Chelsea have also enjoyed a confidence boosting victory over Arsenal to start their march back up the table.

With Manchester City also losing it will be seen as a really good weekend for The Blues.

But Jose won’t forget the foibles which brought about the string of defeats and we would be surprised if he didn’t go back into the market in January.

When Chelsea play the big teams the boss likes to put another defensive midfielder alongside Matic. But he doesn’t seem particularly comfortable with any of his options there at the moment. Ramires has never looked like a Mourinho favourite and Mikel is a fading force. Meanwhile Zouma now looks nailed on for a centre back berth.

Reports today suggest that Chelsea will bid £20m for Victor Wanyama in January. The Star says:

Jose Mourinho ready to hihack (sic) Tottenham move for Southampton ace Victor Wanyama

Boss Jose Mourinho is set to make a £20m transfer window bid as he looks to strengthen his midfield options following his side’s poor start to the season.

Wanyama would certainly add physical strength to the engine room. But he has also shown since his move to Southampton that he is very comfortable on the ball to boot.

We have always liked the 31 cap Kenya international and, at 24, he still has his best years ahead.

Let’s see him in action.
