Manchester United: Medical this afternoon for Danish International according to reports

Done?

Having seen the performance of Sergio Romero at the weekend we would have to assume that many Manchester United fans would prefer to see Anders Lindegaard in goal than the Argentine international.

Foreign players can take time to settle in new leagues but that theory doesn’t really ride for keepers.

They can find England a more physical league, but the ability to make a save should be the same, whichever country you come from.

And Sergio Romero simply doesn’t look like Manchester United quality. END OF.

So, with reports this afternoon that Lindegaard – who has 5 international caps for Denmark – is to undergo a medical ahead of a free transfer to West Brom….

Sky sources understand Anders Lindegaard is due to undergo a medical at West Bromwich Albion this afternoon, with a view to a free transfer from Manchester Utd.

…you have to assume two possible outcomes.

Either Manchester United are confident that David de Gea will stay – the Spanish transfer window closes a day earlier than that of The Premier League – or they have another top keeper lined up.

Because Louis van Gaal is not stupid and he knows a player when he sees one.

He must know that, while Romero is a decent emergency keeper, he is not going to help Manchester United to win the title with the sort of form that he showed at the weekend.

It may be unfair to compare Romero to De Gea, who is one of the very best keepers in the world.

But, at this point, Romero doesn’t compare favourably to many keepers in The Premier League.

He is, quite frankly, awful.
