Manchester United fans are starting to deal with an ever more increasingly likely reality that David de Gea will move to Real madrid before the Spanish transfer window closes at midnight on Monday evening.

And after the horror show from Sergio Romero at the weekend, in the defeat by Swansea, the Old Trafford faithful will be desperate for news of a goalkeeper arrival before the transfer deadline on Tuesday at 18:00 local time.

And the latest from Daniel Taylor at The Guardian would suggest that Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas will come to Manchester United as part of the deal.

He tweeted:

Taken all summer to get this far but, yes, De Gea money-plus-Navas happening. MUFC have abandoned initial asking price of £35m

And he expanded that:

United had initially wanted a fee in the region of £35m to make De Gea the most expensive goalkeeper in history but instead have been negotiating a £29.3m package that will see Navas moving to Old Trafford to challenge Sergio Romero for the right to be De Gea’s replacement.

The 28-year-old Costa Rican international, of some 61 caps, was instrumental in his country’s decent showing at The World Cup (3 clean sheets in 5 games) and this got him a move to The Bernabeu last summer – possibly as a stop gap for De Gea.

Navas didn’t cement his place in the first team ahead of Iker Casillas and only played 13 times in La Liga for the club.

But he was expected to become the number one this season, if De Gea didn’t join from Manchester United.

For our money he is a comfortably better player than Sergio Romero but still miles short of De Gea’s calibre.

Navas would perhaps be seen as a short-term solution for Manchester United before a move for someone like Hugo Lloris in January.

Comment: the possessive football would work the way it worked for Barcelona and bayern but united need a faster winger like demaria and a no 9 romero is not a good keeper if even samprodia could keep him at the reserves i go for possessive football as long as we learn to use it those previous finals with Barcelona was a real nightmare united failing to get the bal for vast period of time
