Manchester United: Defender now odds on for Transfer as punters fall over themselves to bet on the move

Time for a change

This one seems inevitable.

Ever since Louis van Gaal took over at Manchester United there has been a sense that Jonny Evans would depart the club.

Not because LvG didn’t like him but because his form has been absolutely awful since the Dutchman came to the club.

And it seemed a matter of when not if the transfer happened this summer.

We felt that he may join the list of players to move from Manchester United to Everton.

But all the money is now going on a move to West Brom, as Sky Reports:

Jonny Evans has been the subject of a major gamble with punters falling over themselves to back him to join West Brom.

Sky Bet report that several new accounts have been opened with the sole aim of backing Evans to make the move to the Midlands and he’s now 1/3 from 9/2 to do so.

Moves like this aren’t usually wide of the mark.

Evans – Time for a change

Evans has threatened, during his Manchester United career, to become a first choice defensive stalwart.

But he seems to have lost focus over the last year or so and now seems way off the pace in terms of what is required at Manchester United.

At 27 he still has years in the tank and has turned out 41 times for Northern Ireland as well as appearing 198 times for Manchester United in all competitions – he has scored 7 goals in that time.

We have to say that we can’t imagine him being at the club come September as he isn’t even near to getting on the bench right now.

But West Brom will be getting a decent player if the deal comes off and he joins fellow ex-red Darren Fletcher at the club.
