This is an interesting one.

The Mail on Sunday reports that members of the Everton hierarchy, as well as the peeps at Chelsea, expect Manchester United and Manchester City to join the race, and to place bids for the brilliant England centre back John Stones.

Chelsea fear both Manchester clubs are secretly plotting moves to snatch John Stones from under their noses.

The Barclays Premier League champions are pursuing the England defender having already had two offers rejected by Everton.

Members of the Blues hierarchy believe City and United will table their own offers for Stones, if and when the Toffees accept a bid from them.

It’s easy to imagine all three being interested. We know that Chelsea have already tabled bids that have been rejected.

But Manchester United and Manchester City have reportedly been interested in Nicolas Otamendi this summer so the addition of a younger, home grown player, would surely by of interest.

Manchester City won’t be desperate if they don’t add another central defender.

But, with Vincent Kompany regularly injured last term and Eliaquim Mangala failing to impress, City may look to add further cover to their existing roster, which also includes Martin Demichelis.

As for Manchester United, like City their hitherto dodgy defence has started the campaign well but there is a sense that United will add one more player to the defence before the window closes.

While neither of the Manchester clubs are desperate the attraction of a 21 year old England international of this calibre is obvious.

So Chelsea have every right to feel concerned about other bids.

This one looks as if it will go right down to the wire.

Let’s see the lad in action.

it’s about time as well. We usually just let Chelsea have whoever they want without too much trouble. Stones is a good player, which shows the value of a good scouting system. None of the top three mentioned here have a decent scouting system otherwise Stones would already be at one of them.
