So, after another comfortable but workmanlike win over Aston Villa, this Manchester United side is still very much in its formative stages.
But there were some real positives, especially from the new boys.
Matteo Darmian is a dream signing.
Memphis Depay looked far sharper on the left and is growing into the English game.
Morgan Schneiderlin is still learning but was the game’s outstanding midfielder.
And Bastian Schweinsteiger, when fit, IS outstanding from top to bottom.
There are three major selections issues for Manchester United, going into the next game.
Rojo or Blind
Rojo now needs game time and may turn out to be a first choice centre back for Manchester United this season.
But Chris Smalling and Daley Blind are forming a winning partnership and Blind offers the passing ability that Rojo doesn’t possess is such abundance.
Rojo will probably get some minutes off the bench.

Schweinsteiger or Carrick
The 30 minute cameo from the German against Villa was far more impressive than his competitive debut. Basti is getting fitter and may well start this one instead of coming off the bench. Schneiderlin should also get the nod for his energy and dynamism.

Januzaj or Young
Januzaj scored the winning goal but flitted and out of the game.
But there was enough spark to suggest that this young forward line should be given more time.

Matteo Darmian can play on the right with a mind of “RWB” to help the attacking force and improve his speed so he can runs back fast when counter attack occur and also his body strength. I guess Smalling and Rojo (but needs more improvement on what his lacking) would temporarily perfect on the middle with Shaw or Young on the left as a “LB” but Young must work more on his dribbling skills. Looking through the defensive line, it’s obvious LVG need to sign “CB Master” like Otamendi or Mascherano would do (not Ramos) to be Smalling’s partner as we can see Smalling has working hard improving his defensive skills as he can be the “young Ferdinand”. Schniederlin and Schwinstieger should pair up on the middle with a mind of 50% defensive and 50% attacking (depends on what they are focusing for) and with supporting Mata as the “CAM” infront them. Memphis Depay must stay as a “LW”,Januzaj on “RW” and give Chica a oppurtunity to replace the old Wazza who’s already cocky being a “ST”. By far my opinion, LVG needs to complete the signing of Otamendi,Pedro (to play as a “RW”) or Muller and the “Argentine” Gaitan as also the replacement of Wayne Rooney. And let Herrera, Blind or Fellaini out of the team as they are not worth as the money that spent on them. MOST IMPORTANTLY, United must improve their GAME and TEAMWORK to be back to “The Real Red Devils” and Van Gaal must be brilliant just like “The Powerful Satan leader” Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton.
