Tottenham: Evidence of imminent deal for forward

Whatever you think of Tottenham’s performances on the pitch over the last 12 months, you have to give credit to Mauricio Pochettino for succeeding where others have failed.

Because he obviously had a clear plan to offload all the dead wood before investing in new players.

Why have three average squad players when you can have one top first teamer?

Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has clearly let slip that the dreadfully under performing Roberto Soldado will be the next man to be sold, with Villareal the possible destination.

Lamela tweeted what appeared to be a farewell message, then quickly removed it – but not before keen screen grabbers everywhere got in on the action.

Sky Sports reports:

Along with a picture of himself with Soldado, Lamela wrote: “I enjoyed these two years that we shared, I wish you well in your new club. Good luck my friend!”

Soldado was quite literally shocking for Tottenham with just 16 goals in 76 games over two seasons since his big money move from Spain.

And his stats got worse last season with just 5 goals across 40 games.

There is little doubt that a quality player exists in there somewhere.

But he clearly isn’t suited to The Premier League and a move back to Spain seems to be mutually agreeable for all parties.

We expect this one to be announced any time.

Let’s see some of his best moments for Tottenham.

Spurs fans: do any of you think that he should stay?

Don’ know why I’m sad to see Soldado go . Definately better for all parties he has gone . Wasn’t suited to Spurs recent style of play . Can’t fault the man for commitment . Won’t be at all surprised to see him start scoring again. Good luck Bobby.
