Special

We wondered when Real Madrid might make their big move in the summer market.

Because, although new manager Rafa Benitez obviously needed time to assess the strengths and weaknesses of his squad, we are sure that he will make one marquee purchase this summer.

And as the transfer window enters the business end, Wolfsburg manager Dieter Hecking says (via British media outlet Sky Sports) that Real Madrid are interested in the brilliant Belgian international Kevin de Bruyne.

Hecking told Spox.com: “Despite my esteem for Manchester City, I have to say that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have all expressed an interest in Kevin de Bruyne and there have been approaches for him. He will only leave if there is an extraordinary offer for him. I am not ruling anything out and we will listen to offers, but in reality we could allow him to leave for a huge offer.”

One of the best in Europe this season

One of the best in Europe last season

De Bruyne has been an absolute revelation in The Bundesliga since joining Wolfsburg from Chelsea at the start of last year.

Last season he hit 16 goals and made an unbelievable 27 assists for his team mates, from his starting position out on the wing.

We feel that the signing of this lad could start a massive transfer merry go round in Europe. Because, if Real Madrid get him, they will surely offload one of their attackers.

It could also mean that Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus moves elsewhere for a massive fee.

De Bruyne is a direct attacker who would surely score and create lots of goals in La Liga.

At just 24 he’s played 33 times for Belgium and scored 8 times for his country.

He already looks extremely mature and could offer the sort of ruthless streak up top that Real Madrid have been lacking in preseason.

Let’s take a look at him in action.
