Prodigious Talent

It looks as if Everton are close to completing a deal for a prodigious young talent from Argentina – Tomas Andrade.

He’s 19 and currently plays for River Plate in Argentina, where he has drawn the attention of various clubs in Europe.

The left-footed attacking midfielder is still in his formative years but Everton manager Roberto Martinez spoke in glowing terms about the potential of the lad. The Liverpool Echo reports:

Everton close to Tomas Andrade signing

“Tomas is a very talented young man,” Martinez told the ECHO.

“He can play between the lines, he is left-footed, he’s has a very, very interesting profile.

“He will need an adaptation period because he is very young still but he will fit in fantastically well in our development squad and we will try and do a deal where we can get him on loan with a clear plan to develop him and see if that will allow him to fulfil his potential.”

The Everton manager seems in buoyant mood about the prospect of more signings before the end of the window.

Although it’s not ideal to sign players after the season has kicked off, it seems to be part and parcel of the negotiation process for agents to wait until the end for he window to complete deals for their clients, when clubs start to panic and prices are forced up.

But Martinez wants another few players in August.

“I want three new signings and will be working hard until the end of the window to bring players in,” he said.

“We are getting closer but won’t ever just bring one in for the sake of it to fill a position. But we are a bit light and need the right players to help the group.”

Let’s take a look at the wonder kid, Tomas Andrade, in action.
