The international break has provided Ronald Koeman a merciful break from Everton’s plight.
The Toffees spent over £150million bringing in the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sandro Ramirez, and Michael Keane, yet they dangle perilously close to the relegation zone.
With his side just two points above the bottom three, the Dutchman has reportedly been given until the end of October to save his job, per the Mirror.
Despite his extravagant summer spending, Koeman failed to address the most pressing issue of replacing last season’s top scorer Romelu Lukaku once the striker had joined Manchester United in a £75million deal.
In his defence, the fixture list hasn’t been kind. Everton have had to face Manchester City – who they took a point off – as well as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham.
Their only victories have come against Stoke and Bournemouth, while they were embarrassed in the Europa League by Atalanta and failed to beat Apoel Limassol at home.
Koeman now has three games, against Brighton, Arsenal, and Leicester to remain in charge.
