It looked for all the world that Chelsea would replace their outgoing left back Filipe Luis with the young dynamo that is Augsburg’s Abdul Baba Rahman.
And that may still be the case.
But, in latest reports, some tabloids have suggested that Chelsea may have changed targets.
The Express reports:
Chelsea prepared to pay £15m for Tottenham ace (but Baba Rahman remains an option)
Both players share many of the same attributes – they are both pacy, powerful and superb athletes who can run all day – but perhaps Jose wants both.
Because Rose is an adaptable player who has also played on the wing in his career.
He has shot to prominence in 2012 with some superb performances on loan to Sunderland, where he spent most of the season.
There he scored 1 goal in 27 league appearances and was one of the few real bright spots in a struggling team.
He then moved back to Tottenham, where his stock has continued to rise and where he is now a nailed on starter when fit.
He played 34 times and scored a really useful 4 goals last season and the assumption is that Tottenham very much want him to stay.
But the lure of Chelsea may be very tempting if Jose does show serious interest.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action.
