We have a sense that this one isn’t going to happen.
After all, the player seems to get linked with Arsenal virtually every summer and, as yet, nothing has materialised.
But, with Rafa Benitez yet to make a customary marquee summer signing for Real Madrid in this window, perhaps there could still be movement on the idea of Karim Benzema to Arsenal.
There is, after all, a full month left in the transfer window this summer.
And Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has mirrored that notion by stating that he, along with the rest of the squad, would love to see Benzema turning out for The Gunners (via Sky):
“Benzema is a great player,” Cazorla told Spanish broadcaster Cope Radio.
But he reflected the general mood about the likelihood of a transfer when he said:
“Everyone would like to have him on their team, but the coach (Arsene Wenger) already has a squad and probably will not find another forward.”
Benzema has proven his class over 6 years at Real Madrid with 133 goals in 281 games for Real Madrid.
He also has a healthy 25 in 77 for France.
And he is coming into his pomp at the age of 27.
We have no doubt that Arsene Wenger would want the lad at Arsenal, given the chance.
But he remains firmly entrenched at Real Madrid right now.
Let’s see the maestro in action.
