Strong

What a fillip for Arsenal to start the season with Arsene Wenger’s first win over a Jose Mourinho lead Chelsea.

And they deserved it too. Arsene Wenger must be beside himself with joy.

But, when you look at the strength of that squad now, he has every reason to be happy.

The problem he has now is who to leave out of his team to face West Ham on the season opener.

We would like to see Gabriel Paulista get a game. But Per Mertesacker is stubbornly holding on to his place in the team and will probably continue there this weekend.

The rest of the defence picks itself and we like Coquelin and Ramsey in front of them.

Alexis Sanchez won’t be ready to play for Arsenal until the second game of the season, after his Copa America triumph, so Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain must be nailed on for a start after his brilliant winner against Chelsea.

Even though he was quiet at Wembley, we think that Theo Walcott may prove to be a better centre forward fro Arsenal than Olivier Giroud so we will give him another run out up top.

So here is our strongest available Arsenal XI for the first game of the season (Kick Off 13:30 Local Time, Sunday 9th August).
