Manchester United have been linked with a thick catalogue of striker solutions this summer.
Players like Harry Kane, Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski would cost the earth without any guarantee of immediate or lasting success.
Furthermore, Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney really took one for the team last season.
He played in several positions, miles from the goal mouth, without a whimper of complaint.
But this is one of the very best finishers in world football and he deserves the chance to play up top whenever fit this season and to break all scoring records for Manchester United.
Signing an expensive striker could imbalance the ship and possibly cause disharmony in the camp.
So perhaps the perfect solution rocked up at pre-season training this week in the shape of Javier Hernandez.
40 goals in 74 internationals for Mexico. And 97 in 267 in his club career. He may not be the ‘complete’ centre forward like Rooney.
But he offers the sort of pace which will cause tired defenders no end of trouble with half an hour to go in matches when Manchester United are chasing games or want to kill off the opponent.
Overall, he’s a marvellous back up striker for Wazza.
After returning to Manchester United from his loan spell at Real Madrid this lad looks hungry in training and ready to prove himself.
He may get that first chance against PSG on Wednesday and we think that Manchester United should hold onto him at all costs.
Because he really could make the difference for United this season.
Let’s see his goals for Madrid.

Starting to look like Pedro is on his way in from FC Barcelona, (fingers crossed) but please don’t sell Chico. Hernadez is a great poacher and I am convinced that given a chance by Van Gaal he will prove Van Gaal wrong about letting him go on loan last season. He would have definitely scored a lot more than the four Falcao scored last season.
