Manchester United’s South American signings have been a mixed bag.
Marcos Rojo looks like an excellent signing and Carlos Tevez was a real Manchester United player, despite his short stay at the club.
Gabi Heinze goes into the ‘not bad’ category.
Anderson had his moments.
Then you have the likes of Seba Veron and Angel di Maria who just didn’t settle.
So Manchester United will be hoping that they have more luck with their new man Sergio Romero.
The 28 year old Argentinian keeper has joined Manchester United on a three year deal and used the dreaded ‘dream’ phrase when he completed his move:
‘To play for the biggest club in the world is a dream come true for me’
Romero has played for Louis van Gaal already, during the Dutchman’s tenure of AZ Alkmaar in 2008-9.
But he will be particularly aware of the keeper’s skills after the Argentinian played a big part in knocking Van Gaal’s Holland out of The World Cup in the semi-final penalty shoot out in Brazil in 2014.
The keeper has been mainstay in the Argentina side since his debut in 2009 and currently has 62 caps to his name.
While his addition to the squad will add real depth he isn’t necessarily expected expediate the departure of David de Gea, who the club are still hopeful of keeping this season.
Let’s see the lad in action.
