This is something of a strange one with no media outlet exactly sure of what’s happening.
After initial speculation linked Barcelona’s Pedro with a move to Manchester United last week, the trail then went cold as the rumour mill started to suggest that he may instead go to another Premier League club or beyond.
But there has been a new wave of speculation linking him with a big transfer to Old Trafford.
And reports in Spain today suggest that Manchester United are indeed closing in on the Spain international who has half a century of caps for his country and 16 goals to show for them.
If everything comes together he will sign for Manchester United, a club back in the Champions League this year and with an exciting project for the forthcoming campaign.
According to those close to Pedro, talks with the English club are so advanced that the deal could even be announced this week,
We are great admirers of Pedro.
He is a top quality international player and a serial winner. He can’t get in the team ahead of Neymar, Suarez and Messi but he still has so much to offer at 27.
The one drawback is that, increasingly, it looks as if he will be a replacement of sorts for Angel di Maria.
While Pedro has myriad talent he doesn’t possess the frightening ground speed of the Argentine and we feel that it’s a quality that Manchester United still lacks.
Nevertheless, few United fans would complain if this lad joined the club this summer.
Let’s see him in action.
