Manchester United: Senior Officials hold Face to Face talks over £50m deal says respected source

Highly disappointing news for Manchester United fans as it appears that the transfer of Angel di Maria is moving ever closer.

The Times reported late on Tuesday evening that Manchester United have held talks with PSG over the transfer of Argentinian winger Angel di Maria. They say:

Ángel Di María has moved closer to a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Senior officials from the French champions held face-to-face talks with Manchester United to try to push through a £50 million deal for the unsettled Argentina winger.

Even more disturbingly the report suggests that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wanted to keep the player but that Di Maria himself is eager for the move to go through after a nightmare year in Manchester, in which his family were the victims of an attempted burglary and he was benched for the last three months of the season.

Curtains for Di Maria?

Curtains for Di Maria?

In total the 27 year old made 32 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 4 goals and making a dozen assists.

Having spent nearly £80m on players this summer Manchester United should recoup most of that with the sale of a player who will be difficult to replace.

And regardless of the excellent business that the club has done in the market this summer, the window may ultimately be seen as something of a disappointment unless Manchester United can bring in a winger of similar pace and quality such as Bale, Ronaldo or such like.

It’s a huge shame for the club who worked so hard to bring in the world class talent.
